The Gavin Cup is a quarterly competition among all companies, troops, and batteries in the Division measuring deployability, marksmanship and physical fitness.
All Paratroopers from Charlie Rock are exempt from taskings for one quarter and will receive custom PT shirts, a guidon streamer, a trophy, and a 4-day weekend. In addition, the company will lead the Division on the next Division run. The winner in 1st Quarter / FY17 was Alpha Company, 1-504 PIR.
We instituted the Gavin Cup last November and across the Division we're seeing results from this program: every company is more ready, more focused and able to see itself clearer having undergone this process.
We also congratulate Alpha Company, 2-504 PIR in Devil Brigade for winning the first-ever Sergeant York Streamer, awarded quarterly to the company, troop, or batter with the highest number of marksmanship experts. Finally, congratulations to Bravo Troop, 5/73 CAV in Panther Brigade, the winner of the first-ever Iron Mike Streamer, which is awarded each quarter to the company, troop, or battery with the highest APFT average.
