#Army101 – Canadian Combat Rations - Rations de combat canadiennes

Canadian Combat Rations - Rations de combat canadiennes are, and always have been, a topic of heavy debate among soldiers. Picking them, trading the parts, “will I have time to eat it warm?”, “how are they made?”.

Also known as IMPs (Individual Meal Packs), rations typically contain between 1,200 and 1,400 calories, including a main meal, assorted basics such as powdered coffee, protein and sports drink mixes, energy bars, trail mix, peanut butter, cereal, condiments, candy, chocolate, gum, a plastic spoon, a wet towelette and matches.

As many people who have lived off of IMPs for an extended period of time will tell you, sometimes you need to get creative once the meals start getting repetitive. What are your creative tricks to make IMPs more interesting? Mixing fruit with cereal to make cobbler? Putting the sausage links in bread with mustard and ketchup for hot dogs? Tell us all about your tips in the comments below!
